1. Overview

Appointo ("we", "us", "our") operates a mobile application that connects clients with barbers for booking and payment services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our app and services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and profile photo. Barbers may additionally provide business details, service menus, and pricing information.

2.2 Booking & Payment Data

We process booking details (service selected, date, time, location) and payment information through our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store full card details. Stripe handles all sensitive payment data securely. Barbers who receive payouts onboard with Stripe Connect, which may collect their identity and bank details directly — this information never passes through our servers.

2.3 Content

Barbers may upload photos and videos to their portfolio. We store and display this content to facilitate discovery and booking. Clients and barbers can also send messages to each other in the app; message content is stored so both parties can view their conversation history.

2.4 AI Hairstyle Try-On

If you use the AI hairstyle try-on feature, the photo you upload is sent to our AI provider, fal.ai, which processes it to generate a preview of the hairstyle on your photo. Generated images are stored in your account until you delete them or close your account. We log usage of this feature to enforce fair-use limits.

2.5 Usage & Interaction Data

We record interactions such as profile views, post views, likes, comments, follows, and saved barbers. This powers the discovery feed and the performance analytics we show to barbers.

2.6 Device & Location Data

We collect device identifiers needed to deliver push notifications. With your permission, we use your current location on your device to show barbers near you and rank your discovery feed. Your location is used in the moment and is not stored on our servers.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • • To display barber portfolios and enable discovery
  • • To provide analytics to barbers about their profile performance

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with:

  • • Stripe: for payment processing (card details never touch our servers)
  • • Supabase: for database hosting and authentication
  • • fal.ai: processes photos you upload for the AI hairstyle try-on feature
  • • Barbers: booking details (name, service, time) when you book with them
  • • Push notification services: Expo Push Notification Service, Apple Push Notification Service / Firebase Cloud Messaging
  • • Legal authorities: when required by law

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL) for all data in transit. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI DSS Level 1 certified. Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel only.

6. Your Rights

Under GDPR and UK data protection law, you have the right to:

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records).

8. Children's Privacy

Appointo is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, please contact us immediately.

9. Cookies & Tracking

Our mobile app does not use cookies. We use device identifiers solely to deliver push notifications. Our website does not set any cookies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
